One of the reasons for this training is to assist the newbies to get essential information needed for raising broilers, most especially as we are getting set for the festive period.
We have looked at critical factors in the first 7 days.
Today let look at another factor that can negatively affect the growth performance of your birds, if not well managed and that is:
Floor spacing
This is the amount of space allowed for bird’s movement.
Allowing excess floor space has negative impact on the early weight gain of your chicks. Uncontrolled movement of chicks could affect weight gain as birds burn lots of fat through this act. Moreover, excess floor space will make it difficult for you to maintain good temperature. Your floor space is determined by number and age of your birds, therefore allow space based on the number/age of your birds. Excess space should be demarcated and increase it as need arises.
